Are pets allowed in the vehicle?
No, unfortunately animals are not permitted in any of the vehicles with the exception of guide dogs.
Is smoking allowed in the rental vehicle?
No. Smoking is strictly forbidden in all Cruisin’ motorhomes and campervans. Heavy penalties apply to vehicles found with traces of smoke.
What happens if we have a break down?
Cruisin’ provides 24 hour roadside assistance to anyone experiencing mechanical issues with their rental vehicle.
Can we access national parks in Tasmania?
Yes. Tasmania’s major national parks are accessible via sealed roads. National park entry fees will apply and can be purchased onsite at the national park or online. The pass must be displayed on your rental vehicle for the duration of your visit.
What will the weather be like?
Australia’s seasons are the opposite of the Northern Hemisphere. Tasmania has four distinct seasons; summer, autumn, winter and spring. The warmest months are December to March and average a daily temperature of between 17 and 23 degrees. You should be prepared for sudden weather changes in Tasmania and pack accordingly. We recommended you bring a rain jacket and warm clothing no matter what time of year you are visiting.
Are there any driving restrictions of where I can drive?
All Cruisin’ Campervans and Motorhomes can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads. The only exceptions to this are well maintained access roads of less than twelve (12) kilometres to recognised campgrounds. Cruisin reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions, and the distance to nominated destinations in relation to the length of the rental period.
Where can I recharge my phone and laptop?
All Cruisin’ campervans and motorhomes are equipped with power points. You must be plugged in to a 240 volt powered outlet to operate the power points in your vehicle. If you are not connected to 240 volt power we recommend purchasing your own converter available at retailers such as Harvey Norman, Dick Smith and JB Hi-Fi for around AU$100 for a 300W. These stores can be found in major Tasmanian cities.
What is the cost of hiring a GPS navigation system from you?
GPS Navigation Systems are included if you book our Maximum Cover Package. Otherwise the unit is for hire at for AU$9 per day (max $90) per hire
Will we have TV reception everywhere?
In Tasmania reception is limited outside of built up metropolitan areas. We recommend bringing along some DVDs for the inbuilt DVD player.
Do I need a special licence to hire a Cruisin’ Motorhome?
No. All motorhomes can be driven on a current and full motor vehicle driver’s licence which must be presented on collection at the depot. If you have a foreign licence which is in a language other than English it must be accompanied by a current international driving permit issued in the same country as the driver’s licence was issued. An accredited English translation will be accepted in lieu of an international driving permit.
Should we book caravan parks in advance?
It depends on the time of year you are travelling. We strongly recommend booking in advance during peak periods including public holidays, long weekends, school holidays, Christmas and the New Year.
What is your largest motorhome?
Our largest vehicles are the Discovery and Cruisin Deluxe which can accommodate a maximum of 6 people.
What is the minimum age for driving a Cruisin’ motorhome?
Drivers must be 21 years of age or over.
What motorhome features will only operate on 240 volt power?
You need to be plugged into 240 volt power in order to operate the power points, microwave and air conditioner/heater in your rental vehicle.
What is the Cruisin’ Motorhomes Maximum Cover Package?
To make things easier, we have bundled everything up for you in the Maximum Cover Package, for one simple daily fee in addition to the rental rate.

If I pick up or drop off in the afternoon will I pay for a full day?
Yes. Motorhome hire is calculated on a calendar day basis.
Can I fit a baby/booster seat in the Cruisin’ motorhome?
Toddler seats are suitable for children 6 months – 4 years of age (8-18kg) and must be connected to an anchor point. Toddler Seats can be fitted to the 4 Berth Hi Top Campervan, 4 Berth Seeker, 6 Berth Discovery and 6 Berth Cruisin Deluxe. Children under four years of age cannot travel in the 2/3 Berth Hi-Top Campervan, 2 Berth Adventurer or 2 Berth Sandpiper.
Child seats are suitable for children 4 – 7 years of age (14-26kg) and can be fitted to all Cruisin vehicles. Cruisin does not recommend fitting Child Seats to the following vehicles as they will need to be fitted to the front passenger seat. 2/3 Berth Hi Top Campervan, 2 Berth Adventurer and 2 Berth Sandpiper.. Cruisin’ Motorhomes offers Toddler and Child seats for hire for $35 per seat.
Is camping allowed in Tasmanian National Parks?
Most of Tasmania’s national parks have areas specifically for camping. These campsites often provide amenities such as showers, toilets and a BBQ/Picnic area. We encourage our guests to respect the environment during their stay in the national park and to practice responsible waste disposal. Most national parks provide free camping only and do not supply 240 volt powered outlets to charge the motorhome.
Can I pick up the motorhome in one city and return it to another?
Cruisin Motorhomes have branches in Brisbane, Cairns, Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney. One way rentals are available between all branches, a one way fee of $260 applies.
Is it possible to hire a generator?
No we do not hire generators as they cannot be used with any of our vehicles.
What are the cancellation fees?
Cancellation Fees are as follow:
• If cancelled up to 29+ days prior to pick up. No Fee
• If cancelled 28 to 7 days prior to pick up 25% of
• If cancelled 6 to 1 days prior to pick up - 50% of
• If cancelled on the day of pick up or
‘No Show’ - 100% of total rental

Do you provide a hair dryer in the motorhome?
Unfortunately we do not provide hair dryers in the rental vehicles. We suggest bringing your own or purchasing one on arrival.
Do you provide an iron and ironing board?
Cruisin’ does not provide an iron or ironing board. Most authorised caravan parks in Tasmania have a laundry service.

How long do the motorhome batteries last if we are free camping?
All Cruisin’ motorhomes have a battery to run the engine and another to operate the living equipment such as the lights and fridge. The battery operating the 12 volt living appliances will remain charged for up to 12-14 hours depending on use. If the battery is low you must connect to a 240 mains powered outlet at a caravan park to recharge. We recommend that you stay at a powered caravan site at least every second night to ensure the battery remains charged throughout your holiday in Tasmania.
How long will the gas bottle last before it runs out?
One bottle should last up to 2 weeks but a lot of cooking could cut this short by a few days. Our 4 and 6 Berth Motorhomes are supplied with x2 4kg bottles. 2 Berth Motorhomes are supplied with a 4kg bottle and our Hi-Top Campervans are supplied with a 2.5kg bottle.
Do you accept all credit cards?
Cruisin Motorhomes accepts Visa, MasterCard, Visa Debit and MasterCard Debit and AMEX. An additional 2% nonrefundable administration fee will be incurred on any transaction. American Express will incur an additional 4.5% non-refundable administration fee on any transaction.

What is included in the motorhome?
All Cruisin’ motorhomes and campervans come fully equipped with;

How much storage is in Cruisin’ motorhomes?
All campervans and motorhomes have storage cupboards for your belongings. We highly recommend you travel with foldable soft bags only and avoid bringing suitcases.

Tasmania is home to many caravan parks surrounded by the best that nature has to offer. Our diverse and unique scenery and uncrowded roads create the perfect self-drive experience. Tasmania is a free campers oasis and this means you can often pull up on the side of the road at a destination of your choice without restriction. We also have many authorised caravan parks offering powered sites for you to charge your motorhome. All Cruisin’ guests receive a caravan and camping guide complimentary with their rental.
