5 Tips For Your Tassie Camper Adventure
If you’re about to travel in Tassie by camper this article is simply a must read for you! Find out everything you need to know about planning your journey and points of significance along the way.
1. Get to know where to go
Before you travel, visit our suggested itinerary routes to find out where you can go on your Tasmanian adventure. These itineraries are written to accommodate the first-time visitor to Tasmania as well as those seeking a more off-the-beaten-path adventure. In the archive you will learn of Tasmania’s most iconic wilderness destinations that should not be missed from any self-drive encounter in the state.
2. Pack just the essentials in a backpack, not a suitcase!
If you’re visiting for a week or so, chances are that you won’t need to pack all but the kitchen sink. Make sure you stick to the essentials and pack them into a foldable bag or backpack instead of a suitcase to allow for more room in your campervan.
3. Book your caravan parks
If you’re travelling in summer, over school holidays or Easter, we recommend booking your caravan parks before you arrive in Tassie. This will make sure you have somewhere to connect the van to 240 volt power at least every second night of your holiday.
4. Visit the local supermarket
Once you have collected your van from the Cruisin’ office, it’s time to stock it up with those holiday essentials. If you are collecting from the Hobart branch and going south, pay a visit to Eastlands Shopping Centre on the Eastern Shore of the city where you will find a Coles, Woolworths, BigW, Kmart and bottle shop. The shopping centre has a convenient and free outdoor parking area to leave your motorhome while you shop. Those navigating up the east coast can stop at the small suburb of Sorrell just 15 minutes from the Cruisin’ office. You will also find 2 supermarkets here with outdoor parking for convenience.
5. Know your dump points
If you’re travelling in a motorhome, it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with convenient dump points around Tasmania. The National Public Toilet Map resource is a great way of identifying the nearest dump point to your current location. Most caravan parks also have facilities where you can empty your grey and black water along the way. What are your favourite tips for travelling by camper in Tasmania?
