14 Days Hobart Roadtrip Itinerary (1300 kms)

Discover the pure beauty of Tasmania on this magnificent 14 day itinerary. Spend time getting to know the picturesque capital of Hobart with spectacular Mt Wellington and bustling Salamanca Market. Marvel at the gems of the magnificent east coast and become part of convict history at World Heritage Listed Port Arthur. Discover the stunning natural capital of Australia’s Apple Isle. Enjoy a walk through historic Salamanca and Battery Point and sip on a coffee at one of the many top-notch cafes. Stroll around the picturesque wharf and take a boat trip to the world-famous Museum of Old and New Art (MONA), the largest privately funded Museum in Australia.

Venture up Mount Wellington and experience spectacular panoramic views of the city from 1271 metres above sea level. Continue on to beautiful Freycinet and experience the magic of Tasmania’s spectacular east coast out your window. Stop off at Swansea and sample fine local produce at one of the top-notch restaurants. Take a late afternoon walk around Coles Bay and stand before the looming Hazards before enjoying a meal in the cosy local tavern.

Spend the day exploring Freycinet National Park and enjoy breathtaking views from the famous Wine Glass Bay Lookout. Walk the circuit track and marvel at pristine coastline, rugged native forests and an array of Tasmania wildlife. Spend the afternoon exploring the many walking tracks of the area.

Explore Launceston’s scenic Cataract Gorge just two minutes outside of Launceston’s CBD with its many walking trails and bike tracks. Take a ride in the world’s largest single span chairlift and experience magnificent views of the surrounds.

Visit the Don River Railway in Devonport, home to the largest collection of steam locomotive and passenger carriages in the state, or stop by the Bass Strait Maritime Centre and learn all there is to know about this famous stretch of water. Dine at a local restaurant serving the best of the area’s produce.

Take time to experience the beauty of Cradle Mountain. Walk around stunning Dove Lake and immerse yourself in rugged Tasmanian Wilderness. Spend the afternoon at the local lodge cosied up beside a roaring fire.

Spend the day exploring the myriad of bushwalks in the area and experiencing authentic Tasmanian Wilderness. Take a ski trip to Cradle Mountain Canyons or if you want a bird’s eye view enjoy a magnificent scenic flight over the stunning area.

Walk around the scenic Macquarie Harbour and witness Strahan’s historical buildings. Travel a short distance to the pristine sands of magnificent Ocean Beach or take an adventurous half-day fast jet boat ride up King River.

Hop on one of the famed Gordon River Cruises and navigate through one of the most unspoilt World Heritage areas on earth. Take a trip to nearby Hell’s Gates and visit the iconic light house.

Make your way back to the capital. On the way stop by scenic Mt Field National Park and take a short twenty minute walk to magnificent Russell Falls or weave between giant trees on the Tall Trees Walk, an easy half an hour. Stop at New Norfolk for lunch and peruse the many antique stores or visit the Salmon Ponds at feeding time.
